Rushell's Thoughts on Day 3
Today was an informative day as we got to explore Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden Palace. In Tiananmen, we saw the People's Heroes Monument, Mao's Memorial, the Tiananmen Gate with Mao's portrait and the elaborate city gates. We then saw the emperor's quarters filled with jade, silk, and gold and all the beautiful and carefully architectured buildings for the nobles and imperials. The buildings had breathtaking craftmanship and depicted a regality which not only informed us of the past, but also allowed us to travel back in time and feel as though we were royalty then. Overall, the day kept us on our feet and left us in awe of now modern China and ancient China blended together. We had a blast! Can't wait for Yunnan!
