Daily Itinerary

Proposed Itinerary (Please note that travel within India can be unpredictable and this is subject to change)
July 2-3: Flight from USA to Delhi.
July 4: Morning orientation in Delhi. Visit main cultural sites including the historic Red Fort and Juma Masjid, India's largest mosque.
Board private coach to Dharamsala.
July 5: Arrive in Dharamsala. Check into hotel. Afternoon orientation and visit to Namgyal Monastery, home of the Dalai Lama.
July 6: Morning: celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's birthday and witnessing the prayers and offerings for his long life.
Afternoon: visit to the Tibetan Library and Archives.
July 7: Meet cultural leaders, visit several cultural sites such as The Tibetan Children's Village, The Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute, and The Tibetan Youth Congress.
Transfer to Amritsar.
July 8: Visit the Golden Temple, the most important religious center for Sikhism. Transfer to Delhi.
July 9: Flight to Leh. Check into hotel. Afternoon orientation in Leh and visit to Leh Palace.
July 10: Visits to main cultural centers in Leh Valley including Stok, Stakna and Tikse monasteries. Meetings with cultural representatives.
July 11: Travel to Lamayuru and Alchi Monasteries.
July 12: Morning: optional trips to points of interest.
Afternoon: Discussion on curriculum planning and development.
July 13: Option 1: Short excursion to pilgrimage sites above Hemis Monastery. Option 2: Visit to local villages and SECMOL (local school) to learn about Ladakhi educational system.
July 14: Flight to Delhi. Afternoon free to visit Raj Ghat (where Gandhi's ashes are interred, the National Museum and other sites of interest.
July 15: Private coach to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. Evening: return coach to airport and depart for USA.
July 16: Arrival in USA.
