June 19: Day 4: Nyesha and Pachan Share Their Insights

Nyesha poses while making lunch at CCIDD
Nyesha: The palace of Cortez was really pretty. It was big and made of stone and over 500 years old. They have a painting that Diego Rivera made about 77 years ago. We saw all kinds of old timey things like cannons, and those horse-drawn carriages
I liked seeing the pots because I made some clay pots in art in school and they were similar.
I liked the view from the balcony and I took a lot of pictures of it. We could see the Cathedral and the City Center from there.
It was a rainy day and none of us had our umbrellas so we had to wait in the palace and I bought key chains and postcards in the gift store there.
After that we went to the artisan’s market and Pachan will tell about that.
Pachan: The market was fun and exciting. We were digging through t-shirts and I bought the perfect one for a gift and then we looked at all the colorful jewelry that was very beautiful but expensive and I bought a glass for a present too. It was very colorful. The shopkeepers were very friendly. I got to ask them “how much was it” and give them the change and it was a different experience than what I have been doing because usually I am shy to ask in stores. I could understand them pretty well since I have been practicing Spanish with Teneisha and at school. Looking around was fun too!
Nyesha: I think that when I come home, I’m going to be way more thankful for what I do have because people in Mexico have a lot less! I’m really having fun in Mexico with everyone including the ccidd staff , but I can’t wait to come home!!!!
Pachan: The most challenging part of this trip was leaving home. Why it was challenging is because I was feelling a little sad of missing my family and what I did to over come it is just relax and try to enjoy my time here and talk to my family. I’m trying out fun and new exciting experiences and I want to thank everybody at ccidd for making me feel comfortable.
