I'm still alive

Sarah with a few new friends
To all my friends and family who are reading this, I am alive and well. India has been wonderful! By far one of the best parts of this land is the Chai :). Me thinks a good number of us are mildly addicted to the stuff...or at least close to it. But I won't dwell much more on Chai, becasue Chriss over there has already claimed it as the subject for his blog entry. Instead I'll talk about the children. They are so cute! From the little girl in the red dress who would smile britely and reach out her hand to me to grasp every time i saw her in the museum; to the children outside of Jama Masjid with whom I played pass the truck. One of the hardest things is when they come up to you, palm outstreached, begging for money you know you can not give.
Well it is time for us to cram into Gypsy mobile, with our driver Amit at the wheel and head out to lunch.
Yum!!! ^_^

Hello my lovely niece!!
It was great read your message - glad to know that you are safe and sound. Isn't it awesome to experience a place that is so vastly different from the U.S? The traditions...
the beliefs... the colors, sounds, smells...the way people travel...the Chai (the curry!!) and the children...I hope your time in India will remain with you always.

Hi Sarah-
The kids you will meet can be great fun to be around but also sometimes it can be heartbreaking to realize how challenging the lives are that some of them are leading... I hope over time you will find ways to connect with them that feel meaningful ... maybe in your ISPs? One idea I forgot to mention at orientation is that you can carry small snacks (little bags of peanuts, things like that) that kids (and others) are often grateful to recieve and give those to people instead of money.. just an idea to consider.
