In preparation for our trip to China our group did some really interesting activities. For example, we went to a tea tasting in a town near our school. We tried 3 different types of traditional Chinese teas. Gunpowder was the group favorite. We also went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC to see an exhibit on ancient Chinese art and weaponry. There were lovely scrolls with poetry and plum tree drawings as well as some really cool horse armor. Our teacher rides horses and she loved the armor. We also read some articles on modern China. Ms. Tregar sent us New York TImes articles on China's "clean coal" factory plan. We also read articles and watched a video on Tiananmen Square.
