Beginning to end: A photographic recap of our Mexico experience
Hello all,
Before I make the final post about our closing ceremony, I thought it would be appropriate to look back on everything that happened during our incredible time in Cuernavaca, from the beginning until today. Therefore, I have gathered what I consider some of the best pictures and organized them, day by day, along with quotations from C.E.S.A.R. students, leaders, and people we have met from those days. Enjoy!
TRAVEL DAY

DAY 1

DAY 2
"I've been excited every day in Mexico because we keep doing new things. Every day is something else. I can't sleep because I'm so excited about everything." -C.E.S.A.R. student

“I felt really accomplished.” -C.E.S.A.R. student

"The mountain gave me a good experience. Now I know I can do anything if I put my mind to it." -C.E.S.A.R. student

DAY 3
“You are very lucky to live in the United States” -Mexican mother, to C.E.S.A.R. students

"Now I know that I need to be thankful for what I have." -C.E.S.A.R. student

"It is so sad to see families without food and shelter and little children selling things." -C.E.S.A.R. student
"Serving breakfast [was the moment of the trip that made me happiest] because it was nice to see the smiles on the kids' faces when we helped them." -C.E.S.A.R. student
DAY 4
"The Mexico program is going to change my life when I'm back in Milwaukee." -C.E.S.A.R.

"I love it here." C.E.S.A.R. student

DAY 5
"I have a dream that we can all learn to love each other no how matter how rich or poor or what country we live in." -C.E.S.A.R. student
"I have a dream that there be no more racism in the world-that in a couple of months there will be no more racism." -C.E.S.A.R. student
"I have a dream that people can just accept people for who they are." -C.E.S.A.R. student

"As a teacher (and also a mom) I enjoy very much the formal sessions we
have to "debrief" the learning/experiences that we have both in and
outside CCIDD. It has been a joy to watch the students draw, talk, act
out, and listen as we explore some really tough questions about why our
world is the way it is... these are an amazing group of young people and I
feel privileged to be spending this time with them helping them understand
what they are seeing here in Mexico and to help them connect the
experience here back to their life at home in Milwaukee." -Michelle, C.E.S.A.R. leader

DAY 6

"Meeting all the kids is my best memory from Mexico." -C.E.S.A.R. student

"I would not want to be them because they don't have as much stuff as we do and their houses are different from ours and their schools are different too. But we all liked basketball. We all like music even though we don't like the same kinds. And of course we all go to school." -C.E.S.A.R. student

"The little kids were fun to play with but I could not believe they didn't have a mother or father. Well they do have a mother and father but not ones that take care of them. It's good that they have a life at Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos now." -C.E.S.A.R. student

"The best thing about the day was watching the little kids at the orphanage smile and having fun. I don't wanna go home now because it's fun here. I'm going to miss Mexico." -C.E.S.A.R. student

DAY 7
"I want to tell everyone that this is a great trip." -C.E.S.A.R. student

"You don't need to speak the same language to have fun together!" -C.E.S.A.R. student

"My best memory in Mexico was the pinata party and playing with the kids there." -C.E.S.A.R. student

DAY 8: FINAL DAY
"I am very proud of you all." -Teneisha

Congratulations to all of you! You've been an inspiration to all of us following your blog. Speaking of which, Aaron, you deserve a very special thanks for the unflagging dedication you brought to the process of documenting and sharing the CESAR program's adventures in Mexico. Well done!
