June 20: Day 5: Maya Chimes In

Maya with two local girls in front of the completed mural
**THE FOLLOWING IS WRITTEN BY MAYA**
On Wednesday June 21st we started out with some morning meetings. First we learned about a project we will be working on more later in the week. After that we did a game in which he would read something and we would say how we felt about it. In the game there were four quadrants each labeled Fair, Unfair, Affective, and Inaffective. A lot of the older people in the game found it interesting how such small children could have such mature and interesting opinions.
After the morning meetings we had a little free time so everyone left to shop. While the girls headed off to the artisans market with Teneisha the boys, Aaron, and Michelle were looking around the people's market. I know that the girls got a lot of souveniers for family( and a few for themselves), thanks to some very helpful organizing of their souveneir lists the night before. The boys, with less luck, didn't buy much.
Next we ate a delicious lunch and left of to paint a mural with a group of young people from El Pregon.Even though these are younger people they were very talented. The mural we did was only one of some of the others these young people have made. It was a big wide Mural consisting of many different pictures and colors. The mural was made because nearby the village there is a garbage waste dump and the mural was made to make the town look nicer. After all of it was done the wall was very colorful and made the street a little better than when we started.
When we returned from the mural paining everyone got in the pool for a fun evening swim. So that was the end to a fun and exciting day (hopefully the rest will be just like this one)!
